How We Handle Your Personal Information

Written for this site and how it actually works, not copied from a blog template.

Scope

This policy applies to plumbingandgasfittingperth.com.au, operated by Plumbing Systems and Repairs. It explains how personal information is collected, used, disclosed and stored, and how you can access it or complain. It is written to reflect the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles.

What we collect

Information you give us. When you phone, submit an enquiry form or send an email, we collect the details you provide: your name, phone number, email address, the property address or suburb the work relates to, and whatever you tell us about the job.

Information collected automatically. Like most websites, our web host records standard server log data — IP address, browser type, pages requested, referring page and timestamps — for security and to understand how the site is used.

Third-party form and embed data. Enquiry forms on this site are provided by an embedded third-party form service. Submissions pass through that provider's systems. Web fonts are loaded from a third-party font host, which receives the request as a technical consequence of serving the font.

We do not collect government identifiers, payment card numbers, or sensitive information as defined in the Privacy Act. Do not send them through this site.

Why we collect it

To respond to your enquiry. To pass the job to a plumber or gas fitter who can attend. To arrange access, scheduling and quoting. To keep a record of what was asked for and what was done. And to meet legal and insurance obligations where they apply.

We do not sell personal information. We do not add you to a marketing list on the strength of a service enquiry.

Who it is disclosed to

Independent contractors. This is a referral website. Your enquiry is passed to an independent third-party plumber or gas fitter so they can contact you and carry out the work. They handle your information under their own obligations.

Service providers. The form provider, email provider and web host that operate the systems we use. Some of these are located overseas or store data overseas, which means your information may be held outside Australia.

Where required by law. To a regulator, court or insurer where we are legally obliged to disclose.

Storage, security and retention

Information is held in the systems described above, protected by access controls and the security measures those providers maintain. No transmission over the internet is entirely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

We keep enquiry and job records for as long as needed for the purpose collected and for any period required by law, then destroy or de-identify them.

Cookies

This site does not set advertising or analytics cookies of its own. Embedded third-party components — the enquiry form in particular — may set cookies necessary for their operation when you interact with them. You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings; embedded forms may stop working if you do.

Access, correction and complaints

You may ask what personal information we hold about you and ask for it to be corrected. Contact us on (08) 9560 5629 or through the contact page. We will respond within a reasonable period, and if we decline access we will explain why.

If you believe your privacy has been mishandled, tell us first so we can look into it. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner, which can be contacted through oaic.gov.au.

Changes

If this policy changes, the updated version is published on this page. Continued use of the site after a change means you accept the current version.
