How Perth splits up for this kind of work
The metropolitan area runs roughly a hundred kilometres north to south and is narrow east to west, which makes travel the dominant scheduling factor. A same-day call-out in a central suburb is usually achievable. The same call from Mandurah at four in the afternoon is not.
Beyond distance, three things vary across the metro and genuinely change the job.
Gas availability. Most of the established metro is on reticulated natural gas, which makes gas storage and continuous flow the default hot water choice. Parts of the outer north, some newer estates and rural-residential blocks are not reticulated, and those properties are choosing between electric storage and a heat pump.
Age of the drainage. Established suburbs have jointed clay sewer laterals and mature street trees. That combination produces the recurring root intrusion described on the blocked drains page. Estates built since the 2000s are on PVC and rarely have the problem.
Coastal exposure. Salt-laden sea breeze in the afternoon is a real factor on the coastal strip. It corrodes hot water casings, brackets, flue terminals and external gas pipework noticeably faster than five kilometres inland.

How far south and north do you go?
North to Joondalup, Ellenbrook and the Wanneroo corridor. South through Rockingham and Baldivis to Mandurah and the northern Peel district. East to Midland, the Swan Valley fringe and the base of the hills. Outer hills properties, rural-residential blocks and anything past those boundaries are handled case by case depending on travel.
Does my suburb change what the job costs?
Travel affects scheduling more than price for most metro work, but a long run to the outer edges does add time. What changes cost more is what is at the property — whether there is mains gas, how old the pipework and drainage are, how accessible the unit or the drain is, and whether a compliance item has to be caught up.
Why do only some suburbs have their own page?
Because a suburb page is only worth reading if it says something true about that suburb. Fourteen pages with real detail about housing stock, gas availability and local conditions are more use than three hundred that swap one place name for another. Everywhere else in the metro is covered; it just does not need its own page to say so.
